Service Clinics
As part of the Kauffman initiative to integrate entrepreneurship across the Washington University campus, two service clinics have been established, one at the Law School and one at the Art School.
Activities at the Intellectual Property and & Business Formation Legal Clinic in the School of Law
span from helping start-up companies grow into strong businesses to guiding inventors as they obtain patents. Students work under the supervision of experienced intellectual property law attorneys and will offer a variety of services to the University and St. Louis community. For more information about activities at the clinic, view the article in the Record, or contact David Deal, the clinic's Administrative Director.
The Visual Communications Research Studio, within the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts, complements the literal nature of law by meeting the creative needs of entrepreneurs. The Studio provides hands-on learning for art students who will contribute branding and communication services to entrepreneurial projects across campus. The clinic is staffed with fifth-year undergraduates, selected in a competitive process, and supervised by faculty. Students serve for a single year and graduate with a five-year BFA in Visual Communications. This curriculum builds on the entrepreneurial nature of the visual communications field, and could lead art graduates to pursue their own businesses.
